About
Born and raised in Dallas, TX, Lily Faulk is an artist on track to earn a BFA in Studio Art: Drawing and Painting with minors in marketing and art history, from the University of North Texas in 2025.
Lily enjoys working with different processes of distressing wood such as torching, pyrography, and woodcarving. She is also fascinated by the plasticity of metals and hopes to incorporate this in her future work.
Her need to have a plan when creating is complimented by the unpredictable nature of wood and metal: keeping her present and growing her adaptability.
Her most recent work, as of Spring 2025, uses fire to express damage to ourselves, relationships, and our environment, while creating something beautiful. She is inspired by the ancient Japanese wood burning technique, Shou Sugi Ban, in which the wood is burnt to a char and its effect preserved. This process relates to her mission of embracing tragedy, preserving what is learned through life's hardships, and seeing the blessings that come through with growth.
